Thought the time was ripe to put in a new post. Life has been treating me very decently since the last post. High point of it being getting an opportunity to spend two months in London for an internship. Guess what I am going to an investment bank!!!!!!! Me an I-banker (atleast for 2 months) !!!! The thrills there on one side. On the other an apprehension. A very big apprehension. The pressure to perform. The pressure to deliver. At the end of it, I want this experience to be a very nice learning experience.

B-school is supposed to teach you lots of things. Quite a bit of it happens inside the class room. This is one of the primary reasons why I quit my nice paying job and landed up here. (Heard recently that friends who joined with me have got hefty pay increases) Thats pretty nice. But then absolutely no regrets. The 6 months here has been a wonderful experience. You work so closely with friends that you get to know them in and out. This level of knowing a person was not very possible during engineering. This may be because of the hajar groups that we work in as par tof our projects. I guess this is also part of what constitutes a take away from a b-school. Then you get a first hand experience of what dedication is from some of the professors. These professors put in as much effort than we do. Agreed that they are probably handling only one course and are not under pressure.. again this kind of a schedule management is also what a b-school offers as its value proposition. One of my aims of coming to b-school was also to give myself time to decide what I want to do in life. Six months have gone by and I have but a very very hazy picture of what my future ought to be. But then the job scene this time is pretty good. If the same situation continues or it just becomes better, then theres no reason not to rejoice.

B-school also teaches you about competition. Known by a multitute of names like RG, rat-race, cut-throat competition, etc, it is but a picture of what the scene is outside.

You must be wondering why this guy has become a b-school proponent. Nothing very specific. Was introspecting on my decision to come to b-school and generally felt nice about it.

Okay then, adios it is for today. Hopefully more frequent posts will happen.....

A State of Oblivion

What I had mentioned earlier about this being one of my many successful mis-advenures seems to be coming true. After the two initial posts, its almost 2 weeks now that I have even opened this page. But, then its not going to die so early; me is putting up a fight. Actually, to slightly lessen the pangs of conscience, I am going to put forward a couple of reasons as to why I was unable to blog in the recent past.

One week of exams (One of the longest one weeks that I have ever come across)

Then a couple of days to recoup from the "exam-lag" and get back to reality

General laziness and slightly above the average desire for sleep

Ok, feels much better now. What I have been doing over the past few days.... Roaming the streets of Lucknow without any reason. I have to do loads of shopping, but all that has gone for a toss. I seem to be doing nothing and yet time seems to be flying. So, to put an end to this, I have decided to act. Some of my friends are really very organized. They know what they want out of life and work only on that. I keep dabbling around here and there and by the time I get to my P1 task, theres not much time left. So went and got myself some post-it notes. Lets see whether it makes me better organized.

Ok some fascinating facts about the invention of Post-it Notes by Arthur Fry and Spencer Silver in 1974. POST-IT NOTES
No one got the idea and then stayed up nights to invent it. A man named Spencer Silver was working in the 3M research laboratories in 1970 trying to find a strong adhesive. Silver developed a new adhesive, but it was even weaker than what 3M already manufactured. It stuck to objects, but could easily be lifted off. It was super weak instead of super strong.
No one knew what to do with the stuff, but Silver didn't discard it. Then one Sunday four years later, another 3M scientist named Arthur Fry was singing in the church's choir. He used markers to keep his place in the hymnal, but they kept falling out of the book. Remembering Silver's adhesive, Fry used some to coat his markers. Success! With the weak adhesive, the markers stayed in place, yet lifted off without damaging the pages. 3M began distributing Post-it Notes nationwide in 1980 -- ten years after Silver developed the super weak adhesive. Today they are one of the most popular office products available. Post-it®

Wok then, more regular updates in the pipeline....

Satisfaction

Satisfaction is maximised at the point where an indifference curve is tangent to the budget line. At that point, the slope of the indifference curve - which measures the consumer's marginal rate of substitution - is equal to the slope of the budget line - which measures the opportunity cost of one good in terms of the other as determined by market prices.
If I hadnt seen this thing before, this would'nt have much sense to me. I would'nt have cared because I dont know Greek. Now that I have seen this thing, this sure is English; but then again, right now its just a string of words that seems to make some kind of grammatical sense. What it does convey is only slightly making sense. Hail Economics!!!
We had our insti party yesterday. Surprisingly, and for a change, I thought I wont drink. Managed to keep the mind's rule over the heart. But then it didnt benefit too mcuh either coz came back after that and was lost is sleep-land in no time. Sometimes I wonder how people manage with just 3-4 hrs of sleep every day. But here that seems to be the norm rather than the exception. Sleep has always been my weakness. I believe or rather am forced to believe that it is God's gift to mankind. Atleast thats what I mused out loud once, and then my friends put it on the year book making me Haristotle....

Birth and Anupam's Birthday

Its Anupam's birthday.... Just spoke to him sometime back. It was nice speaking to him after a long time. People feel really nice when other people who matter to them call up on their birthdays, and bad otherwise. I am quite terrible at remembering birthdays....

Its also the birth of my blog. So many happy returns to it too...

People have all kinds of blogs. Quite a few of my friends have started blogging, some of have become professional, and it is quite interesting reading their blogs. Then there were several occasions when i thought of getting into blogging. The most frequent question that crops up each time is "For What?" Finally decided to get into it. The answer to the question posed before -> Generally.... Actually recenly one of my friends A, started blogging. She has been my inspiration in this initiative. I dont know how long I will continue blogging. Quite possible that this could be my last blog as well...But what the heck, if it is then it will just be added to the big list of things that I have started in Life but have never carried forward beyond a week.

My life here..what do i say? I am back in college after a year of working and things here seem to be getting more and more difficult. Project after Project after assignment after quiz, life just seems to revolve around these things. An occassional game of tt or a chat with my loved ones is the only break around here. Its kind of hard to retain that motivation over sustained periods of time. But then I knew what I was to expect before coming here. So now its back to the books. Lets see whether blogging turns out to be a good recreation. Adios then.
